We take the train from either the station in Cusco, in Ollantaytambo, or the station near our campsite and ride the train to Km. 104 or "Chachabamba". Here we leave the train, cross the Urubamba River at a hanging bridge built on the foundations of an old Inca bridge. On the other side of the river, we begin our ascent on an original Inca trail to the beautiful Inca ruins of "Wiñay Wayna" or Forever Young. Masterful Inca engineering is today’s highlight along the trail, we will visit this spectacular Inca remains that houses a series of Inca baths that also helps pressurize water for an efficient irrigation of the numerous agricultural terraces that produced food for its inhabitants and also provides water to Machu Picchu not far away. We have a picnic lunch and later continue on the Inca trail until we reach "Inti Punku" or Gate to the sun. From here we first see the spectacular city of Machu Picchu below us. A quick descent along the wide royal Inca road and we enter the mysterious citadel for a tour of the citadel and to spend some time wandering and wondering in the midst of its eternal beauty. In the evening we take the bus down to the town of Aguas Calientes to stay at the Hostal La Cabaña or similar. Dinner is on your own. Lunch Box.

We have a full day to savour and appreciate Macchu Picchu on your own and in the afternoon you board the train to return to Cusco. Arrive in Cusco and transfer to your hotel. B (Lunch and Dinner on your own)
