All Inclusive Lares Trek 3D/2N

This short, but beautiful trek will take you to one of the most traditional areas where people live very much like their Inca ancestors, live in stone and adobe homes with thatch roofs, weave much of their clothing and work the land with foot plows. A very enjoyable natural hot spring bath is a welcoming reward after the walk.

DAY 1

We pick you up from your hotel in Cusco or in the Sacred Valley to drive for approximately 1 ½ hours from the valley or 3 hrs from Cusco, until we reach the village of Patakancha. Along the way, you will enjoy views of Alpaca and llama herds grazing along the trail. The scenery is typical of the high Andes mountains with "ichu" or high altitude grass, and some polylepis trees. We visit Patakancha, a traditional village of stone walls and thatch roof huts where many of our porters live and with whom we have a Community Project. After a picnic lunch we begin our afternoon walk. We will walk about 3 hours and 8 km approximately, at first we will climb through the village houses, and then the trail gradually ascends until we reach "Ipsay Cocha", a beautiful small lagoon where we camp nearby (4200m). DAY 2

After breakfast we will begin your ascent for about 1 hour until we reach the high pass at 4600m. This is our highest point on the trek and a good place to observe Condors that are common in the area in the midst of beautiful views. After the pass we begin to descend walking for about 3 hours until the village of "Huacahuasi", another traditional village where people live close to the land, farming the same way their Inca ancestors did: Using foot plows and other basic techniques. Today the scenery will be dramatically different from the day before. A further walk of 2-3 hours will takes us to the hot springs near the colonial town of "Lares" where we camp (3400m). DAY 3

You will walk just a few meters until we meet the vehicle that will take us back to the hotel (3 hours by unpaved road to Calca and from there 20 minutes to Urubamba or 1 ½ hours to Cusco in a paved road. B

• All group camping and cooking equipment: Passenger tents based in double occupancy. Dinning tent with tables, silverware and chairs. Toilet tent with biodegradable chemical toilet.

Price Does Not Include:
International airfare, internal flights, any meals not specified after each itinerary day, airport departures taxes, optional tipping or gratuities to staff, additional hotel nights that may be necessitated by airline schedule changes or other factors, expenses such as medical immunizations (if any), travel insurance, and other expenses of a personal nature (liquor, laundry, and so on.) Trip member must provide sleeping bag. (please note that sleeping bags can also be rented for $4 per day).
